Science Magic Show and Science Communicators Workshop held in University of Turbat

Department of Chemistry has organized a Two-day Science Magic Show and Science Communicators Workshop in collaboration with Udaan and Pakistan Science Fuse, in University of Turbat from 8th to 9th November 2018.

Speaking at the inaugural session the UoT’s registrar Ghulam Farooq Baloch and QEC director Prof. Dr. Gul Hassan Baloch termed this program as a great effort by UoT to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) subjects in UoT, they said that soon STEM subject programs will be started in University. Registrar UoT thanked founder and CEO of Udaan Ms. Granaz Baloch and CEO of Science Fuse Ms. Lala Rukh for organizing this event in Turbat University.

Speaking at the occasion Faculty of Science and Engineering Dean Dr. Haneef Ur Rehman said that the educational institution should take firm step to introduce (STEM) education and hands-on interactive programs for young learners and teachers. He said that under the leadership of UoT’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Razzaq Sabir, department of Chemistry was committed to initiate STEM education in UoT for nurturing the future scientists, innovators and problem-solvers of Pakistan.

“Pakistan was ranked at 113 out of 127 countries in the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2017. One of the main reason is the low standard of science education in our educational institutions, both private and public/charitable,” said Dr Haneef Rahman that besides to train the students of Turbat University the way how to communicate science and innovative ideas to recipients, the purpose of this Two-day Workshop was to raise awareness for promoting STEM subjects in the institutions of higher education.

Meanwhile Ms. Joti Ghani performed various shows which include Gravity, Newton Laws, Rockets, Birth day date guessing, fuel/oxygen/heat, and push egg/arch bridge which were cheered and lauded by the participants.
