Turbat University, Philanthropist Haji Barkat Buledi Launch Scholarship for Talented and Deserving Students

The University of Turbat (UoT) and renowned businessman and philanthropist Haji Barkat Buledi have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the Haji Barkat Buledi Need-Based Cum Merit Scholarship for talented and financially deserving students at the university.

The scholarship aims to support such students by providing educational assistance and promotes academic excellence, research, and equal access to higher education.

According to the University's spokesperson, the MoU was signed by UoT Registrar Ganguzar Baloch and Haji Barkat Buledi on August 18, 2026, at the Vice Chancellor Secretariat.

The signing ceremony was attended by UoT Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Kamal Ahmed, Director Finance Shabek Syed, faculty member, Dr. Irshad Mayar, renowned banker and social figure Bijjar Baloch, and Chairman of the Kech Thalassemia Care Center, Turbat, Irshad Arif.

Under the MoU, Haji Barkat Buledi will provide financial assistance for 20 talented and deserving students of UoT every year.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan said the partnership reflects the firm commitment of the university and regional philanthropists to making higher education accessible to underprivileged youth by removing financial barriers and enabling talented students to pursue their academic goals.

Appreciating Haji Barkat Buledi's pro-education approach, the Vice Chancellor said the University of Turbat, with the support of philanthropist of the region, is committed to making quality higher education accessible to deserving and talented youth. He added that admissions for the 2027 academic year are now open, with the university offering a range of scholarships, financial assistance programs, and fee waivers supported by the Government of Pakistan, the Government of Balochistan, the Higher Education Commission, philanthropists, and other funding agencies.
