UoT’s Academic Council Meeting Approves Key Academic Initiatives, Policies, and Reforms

The seventeenth meeting of the Academic Council of the University of Turbat (UoT) was held at the university under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan on August 19, 2025.

Addressing the meeting, the Vice Chancellor reiterated his commitment to ensure transparency, effective and impactful governance, and academic excellence by conducting all affairs of the university in line with the Balochistan Universities Act, university rules and statutes, and decisions of its statutory bodies. He described the introduction of new undergraduate and graduate programs in Spring 2026 admissions as a landmark achievement of the university during his tenure. He emphasized that these initiatives and reforms would play a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of education at UoT.

The Council confirmed the minutes of its sixteenth meeting and ratified the decisions of the Board of Faculty of Science, Engineering, and IT, Board of Faculty of Literature and Languages, Board of Faculty of Social Sciences, and Board of faculty of Law, along with meeting’s minutes of the Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB), the Affiliation Committee, and Boards of Studies of various departments and programs. During the meeting, faculty members from UoT and affiliated colleges were also nominated for the ASRB under the Balochistan Universities Act 2022.

The Council reviewed the design of transcripts for the fifth-semester intake in four-year undergraduate programs. It also endorsed the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Literacy Drive, “Each One Teaches One.”

The meeting discussed and resolved a range of academic matters, including cases of readmission, result declaration, transcript issuance, and special examinations. It also approved the UoT Academic Calendar 2025 for undergraduate and graduate programs, the establishment of the National Skills Certification Program (NSCP) Center under the Prime Minister’s initiative, revenue generation academic initiatives, and implementation of HEC directives on Fehm-e-Quran and Pakistan Studies.

Furthermore, the forum endorsed the establishment of a Software Development Center at the building of the Law Department, encouraged UoT’s participation in HEC foreign collaborations, adoption of the Transnational Education (TNE) Policy 2024, and internal regulations for admission tests for MS/MPhil and PhD programs.

The meeting was attended by deans, the registrar, directors, heads of departments, the controller of examinations, and representatives from the Government of Balochistan and the Higher Education Commission, along with other members of the Academic Council.
